So my posts have served some purpose, making some members come out of shell and post here making this thread the one with second most number of replies under "All Hot Deals" section. The easiest way to conceal one's weakness is to make best use of the strength. The same can be applied here as well. If there are a considerable number of replies in a significant number of threads, minor mistakes might not get much attention and possibly won't cause much damage to the forum's reputation. But unluckily, this is not happening on OS. The situation can change dramatically if all those(seems 99.99% aren't agreeing with my take) who aren't concurring with my views start participating actively in threads regularly. Top-posters contest shouldn't be the only incentive for that if you are really concerned about the future of the community.

 

I do my bit bro. Constantly reporting reposts and spams, sending pms to admin and usa bhai for things that are not in place or can improve this forum. I hope others will learn too. Also please spare a moment for devoted mods and considers there dedication too for no monetary gains they spend whatever little free time busy life gives to them. Hope they learn and improve and don't be like those who flee away from facing duty. Such contests doesn't serves the purpose and I had long exchange of pm with developer when it was tried for first time and I also believe more than making people greedy to post we should have content that they post themselves and it might take time but with every little bit of my and your commitment we shall surely achieve it too.

@Aryan and others, seems you people are not realizing, that all the replies that are being used to counter my points are indirectly ending up adding weight to my concern! Only old members are knowing the constraints which are presently hindering the working of the Moderation Team, but if a new member creates an account then he won't be knowing how many moderators are freelancing and how busy administrators are! He won't be taking into consideration the reason for those minor or major mistakes while making the first impression about OS.

PS: One more reply against me, and this thread will be the most happening thread in "All Hot Deals" section ever

I fail to understand how does a repost, missing picture or 2 on home page or wrong price updated has to do with 1st, 2nd or nth impression on a new member.

On 1st look os looks as clean and as good as any forum across the world. With number of members it has its doing well. As for old members knowing constraints yes they know but they cant become mods themselves as quality of moderation is your basic concern neither admins can recruit an IIT pass out just because freelancers are weak.

Your criticism started with different things, on how moderators works. I never read a single word on new joining getting such and such impression, os is not becoming big any soon and alikes before which indecently starred last night onwards.

Your critique on moderation and its quality part is understandable and has been answered by admins, several mods, me and others. Now whole new issue of becoming big or impression has no point of argument to me at least and is just running around the bush and criticizing just or sake for it.

Even if we spare a second on what a new joining member would be feeling, guess it happens in all the boards across the globe that someone lands up on a forum, gets habitual of it and instead of sending a private message to busy admin or freelancing mod that dude, how to post, where to post he or she is sane enough to find the answers. For all other queries and mistakes team from admin panels do help when they are online. Last I knew happens everywhere like this only and no forum has online chat support 24x7 to help, does it?

My point is 1) mods are few, 1) they have own life, 3) they are human and can err, 4) new members on any forum is as cool as anywhere and is taken care of (I haven't seen any newbie crying for missing credits, his deal getting neglected or he is given step brotherly treatment in compare to old members) 5) said benchmark is acceptable to extent resources are available and as forum grows resources will come on own 6) admins here devote ample time any forum should have even though they have commitments in life.

After these points if still anything is left to discuss than its just beating the bushes and running around them and doesn't looks constructive criticism to me. You may differ but you have your own opinion. Let's give some time to team to improve. Don't demoralise them by pointing mistakes as crime. They are humans like me and you.

Really? So webmasters around the world(including admin here) are actually wasting their time and efforts in constantly improving their home-pages? Ask any website developer how important it is to have a flawless homepage as it is the main factor that affects the guest-> member conversion ratio.

2) You forget some things too soon
Ask nithin how many times he has fought to get the credits

And the classic example for the second part of your reply is @Muthu15. And it explains the other thing as well: Old members don't mind small issues arising on any forum, because of loyalty/bonding developed over time. But point is that very few decide to stay with a new forum if they don't like it at first instance. @Muthu15 initially had so many complaints( Moderators are not doing their work fine, Good deals aren't being promoted while bad ones are shown on the homepage, only deals posted by old members are being promoted and so on.....). But now when he has become a regular member, he is not having any such complaint. So he can better explain this to you.

You will find considerable amount of difference in this forum and other xenforo based forums.. I personally don't like other xenforo based forums coz of normal font and text but this forum is soothing to eyes.. Hats off to technical team of Online Sasta for giving us such a soothing interface
and needless to mention about home page... It's not based on xenforo and it's way better than any other forum in India

 

Theme can be changed, but basic building blocks always stay the same for the same forum platform(Xenforo, Vbulletin, phpBB, MyBB,.....)

Homepage is based on Wordpress. One of the many aspects where OS is leading in setting benchmarks in this category in India.

Ya still then and there some issues will be there..
If i found something i will escalate it immediately. If i have time i will check and post my views..
After all we are all human.. we learn from our mistake..

In the beginning me to think some good deal are not promoted to homepage..
Different person have different perspective and taught, every individual have different opinion..
May be something will be right for me and wrong for other person X or Y..
I posted my opinion and i was answered well and explain in best way my Mod's and Admin..

May in my point of view something will be issue/Concern..
But we are in the position of Mod/Admin we may think different way and take different decision.

They will respond to you.

In my view i may think its good deal.. But in the other side Mod's/Admin may take decision depends on certain criteria's
In such case i will ask concern Mod's/Admin - they will explain me the reason for not promoting the deal to home page.
