I had received a hands-on activity set from Purple Bee to review. This set is meant for kids from ages 3-7 years. This set consists of four activities. 1. Calendar making with stickers. Things provided – A huge 2014 wall calender and a bunch of small stickers have been provided. The stickers are of various (five) colours and (three) shapes. Activity – The children have to stick these stickers in the designated places in the calender to form two colourful maracas. Verdict – My kids just loved this activity. Also, the adult supervision in this activity is not too much. So win-win. 2. Tambourine Things provided – Two plates. Glue. Paint. Rice. Glitter. Activity – First, we have to paint the outside of the plates using our imagination and let it dry. Once dried, place the rice inside one of the painted plates, cover it with the other and stick the edges of the plates using the glue given. Now, decorate the outsides with the glitter. Tambourine is ready.IMG_20140529_110634 Verdict – The kids love almost everything given here; the paint, the glue, glitter and the end product. However, this is a little bit of a messy activity that definitely needs a lot of adult supervision; at least for five year olds. 3. Happy clown Things provided – A template of a clown. Popsicle stick and so two-way tape pieces. Activity – Cut the template to the shape of a clown. Stick a couple of coins on the hands of the clown by following the instructions given so that when we make the clown clap, there is a sound that comes from it. Verdict – Again, my kids just loved doing this; although with me at the helm.4. I spy with my little eye. Things provided – A board with musical instruments on both sides. 20 red, 20 blue and 10 purple cards of musical instruments. Activity – Pick a card, see the picture of the instrum ent on it and locate the picture on the board. The person who finds the picture first is the winner and gets to keep the card. If the card is red, the picture needs to be locatedon the side of the board with a red border. So, is the case with blue cards. With purple cards, the picture can be located from both sides. The person who gets the maximum cards is the winner. Verdict – A wonderful game to learn the names of musical instruments. Also, it enhances the memory skills and is such a boon when travelling. On the whole, this activity set is a big hit with my kids. I love it too because of the varied activities contained in one box and the various skills it develops in kids. So yes.. A big thumbs up. http://www.indianmomsconnect.com/2014/06/11/product-review-purple-bee/
